REBLOCK

We turn discarded ceramics into paving that lets rain soak in.

RECYCLED CERAMIC · PERMEABLE PAVER

Recycled Ceramic Permeable Pavers

A permeable paving material made mainly from ceramic waste, designed for the urban water cycle. We clearly separate what has been verified from what is still being tested.

KTR testing confirmed a flexural strength of 4.4 MPa, a permeability coefficient of 1.12 mm/s and Grade 2 permeability retention. Long-term performance is still being monitored.

  1. How it drains

    Rain passes through the block
    and back into the ground

REBLOCK is made so that the voids between its recycled ceramic aggregate connect to one another. Those connected voids become the path rainwater takes.

  2. 01

    Surface intake

When it rains, water enters the open voids on the block surface straight away, soaking in before it can pool and run off.

  3. 02

    Through the block

The water follows the connected voids down through the 60 mm block.

    1.12 mm/sPermeability coefficient (KTR test) · about 11× the KS minimum of 0.1 mm/s

  4. 03

    Into the ground

Below the block it passes through the sand bedding and crushed stone base into the subgrade. Instead of rushing into storm drains, rain returns to the ground where it falls.

How it differs from conventional paving

Impermeable pavingRain runs off the surface and collects in storm drains all at once.
REBLOCK permeable pavingRain passes through the block and soaks into the ground where it falls.

ABOUT REBLOCK

A circular economy company
that started at Konkuk University

REBLOCK turns discarded ceramics into recycled aggregate, then develops, manufactures and supplies permeable paving blocks that let rainwater soak into the ground. Our work began not in a lab, but with the people who maintain city sidewalks.
